Plant-Based Meal Delivery Across Chicago's Northwest Suburbs and Lake County

White Oak cooks vegan and plant-forward meals in its Long Grove kitchen and delivers them fresh across Chicago's northwest suburbs, Lake County and the North Shore, with collection in Lake Zurich and Chicago's Rogers Park. Twenty-nine plant-based dishes from about $10, plus a fully plant-based meal plan from $74.99.

Vegan, vegetarian or plant-forward? What each means on our menu

These three words get used interchangeably and they should not be. If you are vegan, the difference is not academic — it is whether you can eat the thing. So we label them separately.

Vegan

No animal products at all: no meat, fish, dairy, eggs or honey. On our menu that includes the Mujadara Lentil Bowl, Vegan Mushroom Marsala, Black Bean Avocado Wrap, Vegan Chickpea Salad and Black Bean Soup.

Vegetarian

No meat or fish, but may contain dairy or eggs — the Artichoke & Sun Dried Tomato Tart, for instance.

Plant-forward

Vegetables and legumes carry the dish and any animal protein is a small part of it rather than the centre. Most of our bowls sit here. Plant-forward is not vegetarian, and we do not pretend otherwise.

One more thing worth saying: dishes named for a meat are not always what they sound like. Our Steak Burrito Bowl and Chicken Burrito Bowl both come in plant-based versions, and the plant-based ones say so on the label. Check the label rather than the name.

How much protein is in a plant-based meal?

This is the first question almost everyone asks, and the honest answer is that it depends entirely on the dish. Lentils, black beans, chickpeas, quinoa and tofu do the work in ours — the Mujadara Lentil Bowl leans on lentils, the Black Bean Burger and Black Bean Soup on beans, the Thai Quinoa Salad on quinoa, and the Pad Thai Vegetable Bowl on tofu and peanuts.

If you are counting, call us on 847-754-0708 or email orders@whiteoakgourmet.com and we will go through a specific dish with you.

Our plant-based dishes

Twenty-nine in the collection, rotating. Regulars include:

Some of these you may have eaten already without knowing it — we have been supplying plant-based grab-and-go bowls to independent grocers across Chicago since 2017. See which shops carry them.

The fully plant-based meal plan

If you want the whole week handled rather than dish by dish, the plant-based version of our Anti-Inflammatory Low Sodium plan covers breakfast, lunch and dinner: $74.99 for three days, $99.99 for four, with 10% off if you subscribe. It is also our lowest-sodium plan, at 1,200 to 1,500 mg a day, and runs on a four-week rotating menu you can see before you order.

A week of it looks like Vanilla Scented Quinoa and Blueberry Walnut Oatmeal for breakfast, Moroccan Carrot Salad, Vegan Chickpea Salad Lettuce Cups, a Mezze Plate and Quinoa Tabbouleh for lunch, with plant-based dinners built on spiced lentils, brown rice and roasted vegetables. More about the plan.

Questions about our plant-based meals

Are your plant-based meals fully vegan?

Some are, some are vegetarian, and some are plant-forward with a small amount of animal protein. Every dish is labelled, and the section above explains which is which.

How much protein do the plant-based meals have?

It depends on the dish — lentils, black beans, chickpeas, quinoa and tofu are the main sources. Get in touch and we will go through a specific dish with you.

Is there a fully plant-based meal plan?

Yes. Three days of breakfast, lunch and dinner is $74.99, four days is $99.99, and subscribing takes 10% off. It is also our lowest-sodium plan.

Do you deliver plant-based meals near me?

We deliver across Chicago's northwest suburbs, the North Shore and Lake County, and you can collect in Long Grove, Lake Zurich or at 7007 N Clark Street in Chicago. See our delivery and pickup page for the full details.

Are the meals frozen?

No. Cooked twice a week in Long Grove and delivered chilled. They keep three to five days in the fridge.

Can I buy your plant-based bowls in a shop?

Yes — independent grocers and co-ops across Chicago and the suburbs carry them. See our stockist list.
