Our Philosophy

We are a wholesome and sustainable 41 acre farm based in Northern Illinois. Our property is enclosed by woods, which allows us to promote a well-balanced chemical-free ecosystem. Birds, beneficial insects, and our own honey bees assist our thriving organic garden to be rich in diversity and abundance with harmony and balance. We do not use any insecticides, organically approved or otherwise, in our garden. Our soil is enriched by a system of composting, crop rotation and companion planting. Retaining moisture in the soil by using these methods ensures we do not waste water, a precious resource. In fact, it was not necessary to water our garden during all of the 2008 growing season.

All of the seeds used in our garden are open-pollinated seeds. Unlike hybrids, seeds from open-pollinated varieties can be saved to plant in another year and will be true to type. We do not plant seed that has been genetically engineered.

Our goal is to grow gourmet fresh, unique and nutritious vegetables, herbs and fruits packed with flavor, texture, and vigor. We keep our bees happy by providing them with plenty of wildflowers and forage, and our chickens are free to roam our property by day.

Locally grown essential food is at the core of sustainability. We share our harvest only with those who would like to be renewed and refreshed with an exciting gardening experience!
